America: Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood is a theme park and movie studio. We went there on the last full day in LA, and it was a lot of fun! It's sort of like Disneyland, but with films/shows by Universal Studios.

The entrance to the Simpsons "ride", which was actually one of those simulation things where the car rocks around in front of a screen that surrounds you, but you don't actually go anywhere. It was really good, though! Despite the entirely unrealistic scenes on the screen, it still managed to make you feel like you were really on a rollercoaster.

It was a (really good) boat ride. I couldn't get many photos because some of the dinosaurs spat water, so I had to put my phone away haha.

We had amazing frozen lemonade stuff whilst queuing for the studio tour. The tour started off kind of boring, just showing the outside of the studios, but then it started driving around old film sets and showing special effects (floods, fire, bullets etc.), which was cool.

Shoot results

Yesterday I got back some photos from a shoot I did with Kate Garner (some of you might have seen her shoot with Felice Fawn for Super Super) last month. I don't think I had time to write about it before, because it was right before I went to America, but it was a lot of fun! Kate is always a pleasure to shoot with, and she has a varied but always very distinctive style that results in really interesting photos. For this shoot I was completely in charge of what I wore, which was nice. I do enjoy being dressed up by stylists, but sometimes the clothes can be kind of boring. 

Anyway, here are my favourites!

Vogue Fashion's Night Out and TG

You know how I wrote a blog about seeing Miyavi? Some girl Tweeted it at him, and he retweeted it haha! I'm kind of embarrassed that he saw it looool, but it least it got my blog a lot of views.

A few days ago I went to Vogue Fashion's Night Out with a few friends. Here's what I wore:

I didn't take many photos (although a lot of people took photos of us), but it was fun, and I got a lot of free stuff (mostly food/alcohol haha).

On Friday, I went to Torture Garden (which I'd never been to before) with a friend who'd only been clubbing once in his life haha. I'm not really into the whole fetish thing, and was really in it for the costume side of it, but because we only decided to go the day before, I didn't really have time to come up with anything good. 

Ken didn't have anything even vaguely appropriate to wear, so I had to dress him up. We decided that rather than trying to use my clothes and make a male outfit, it'd be much easier to just do his make up and dress him as a girl. It worked surprisingly well:

The event was a lot of fun, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's into clubbing and costumes/interesting fashion (even if you're not interested in fetish things, because it's easy to avoid those parts). I really like that they actually enforce the dress code, unlike a lot of clubs, because it's a lot more fun when everyone is dressed up.

05/09/2012 - Shoot and Miyavi

Today was really fun!

Here's what I wore:

During the day, I did a photo shoot. It was for a make up artist I've wanted to work with for months (check out her stuff!), but I'd never been in the right city at the right time.

It was a long shoot (9am-5pm) because we shot a lot of different looks, but it was a lot of fun! Everyone involved was lovely, and I think I'll get some good shots out of it. The make up looks started off quite classic, then gradually got crazier haha. 

During lunch break, I found out through Twitter that Miyavi was doing a surprise live (that was a secret until today) in the evening for the launch of a clothing collection at Browns by a Japanese designer. I hadn't really listened to his music before, but I wanted to see my friends who were also going, so I went. It turned out that it was part of an event that you had to have booked for, so we couldn't actually get inside haha, but the woman organising it was super nice and made him play by the window (and opened it) so we could still see and hear him from outside. Miyavi was super nice! He kept turning around during his performance to wave at us, and I swear he paid more attention to the fans outside than the crowd in the event (who mostly didn't know him). 

Terrible photo, but this was pretty much our view. He actually tried to open the window more for us, but that was as far as it would go. He looked disappointed lol.

His set was really short (about 5 songs), but afterwards he came outside to sign autographs for us!

America part 1

I really have no idea how I'm gonna organise the blogs on America, but here goes!

My impressions on (what I saw of) America: Basically, everything you see on TV is true. I don't know why I didn't expect this, but yeah. All the stereotypes of people you see in movies, too (even the ones that seem made up/exaggerated). The food portions are massive (and they wouldn't let me get kids meals :< ), and it was super difficult to find fruit (just about all the fruit I ate on the trip was on top of frozen yoghurt). People were super friendly (sometimes to the point that it was weird for me, because I am English and therefore miserable) and overall much more attractive than English people haha. Also most of the buildings are really short (especially in LA).

Back from America!

This is just a quick post to let you know that I got back from America safely. It was a lot of fun, but I'm pretty sure I've doubled in weight (too scared to check the scales though haha).

I also got back to find I now have exactly 100 followers, so thank you all! <3
