Happy Halloween!

Just a quick update! Expo was a lot of fun, but I don't really have time to write about that now, because I have to get ready for a Halloween party, and I'm still not even sure what I'm wearing. D: Wish me luck!

For now, here's a Halloween-ish outfit from yesterday:

Also, I recently had a shoot with Twitch (who I've wanted to work with for a long time, but have never been in the right place), for her accessories brand. I was a little worried because I had to do my own make up, but she let me use circle lenses and such, so everything turned out fine! I was modelling a flower garland she made, and the concept was something like "ethereal fairy princess", which is pretty different to my usual style, so it was fun to do! Here are the photos:

23/10/2012

This weekend I had to go back to London to be interviewed for a job with Maids of England (which I got!). It sounds like it'll only be once or twice a month, but I'm super excited to start working with them! I'm always prancing around in a maid costume anyway, so I figured I might as well get paid for it haha. I can't wait to try on my new uniform!

This was my interview outfit lol
----------

On Friday I went to Japan Underground.
Outfit shot:

There were a lot less people that I knew there than I'd expected, but that actually turned out for the best, and I had loads of fun!

I missed the first bands because my train was ridiculously delayed (I am so done with London Midland), but I got to see the whole of 33Insanity'sVertebra, who were very good.

Also, I finally met Ellie in person, and we were wearing the same tights!

When JPU finished, Tom, Dayle and I went drinking with 33IV (and possibly other bands, but at this point I was probably too drunk to count lol). After ambling around for a while trying to figure out what bus to take, we piled into taxis and went to Camden to go to the Electric Ballroom.
Yoshihisa (33IV's guitarist), Dayle and I eventually gave up on standing and just sat around drinking Snakebites for the rest of the night whilst I poorly interpreted between Japanese and English for them (and probably made very little sense). Apparently I spoke French and Italian to some randoms too, but I don't remember that at all. I don't even know how, but I always manage to find ALL the foreigners haha.

When the Electric Ballroom closed, we got fast food then went our separate ways. Without even thinking, I walked all the way home (about 45 minutes). I usually walk it during the day, but this time I was ridiculously drunk and wearing litas haha, so that was probably a bad idea. No idea how I didn't fall over. Luckily I survived, but my feet hurt so much the next day!
----------

I also baked a cake for my dad's birthday! It was on Monday, and I obviously had to go back to university. I feel bad that I couldn't spend it with him, but I wanted him to know I care and all </lame>...
The previously-light cake weighed a tonne after I decorated it haha. At first I was like "Is this too many berries?" but then I was like "Nah, he loves berries.". I was just gonna write something on it in icing, but this should taste better (and I have terrible handwriting, so it probably looks a lot better this way, too).

World Zombie Day

Last weekend I went back to London for World Zombie Day! There was a zombie pub crawl, but my friends and I wanted to do other things, so we only stayed with them for about 15 minutes haha.

I was a zombie maid:
Probably would have looked better with blood on the apron, but I didn't want to destroy it.

We did purikura:

After, Adam dragged us off to his friend's house party, because he didn't want to be the only zombie there looool. It was actually a lot of fun, and we even managed to get someone there to put on zombie make up.

------------
Also, I finally got to see the photo from a hair shoot I did with Room 97 earlier this year. There's so much Photoshop haha, I only realised it was me because I recognised the outfit:
I'd love to do more shoots like this, though.
---------

Finally, are any of you going to MCM Expo this weekend? I most likely won't be going inside the actual event, but it'd be great to see some of you! I have no idea what to do about cosplay, though. D:

Lens review: Vassen Dolly Plus (red)

I recently bought Vassen's Dolly Plus lenses in red from Pinky Paradise (they arrived quickly, as always!), and I'm really happy with them!

First, some info on the lenses (from Pinky Paradise):
Diameter: 14.5mm
Water Content: 42%
Base Curve: 8.6mm
Type: 1 Year Disposal

With just one in to show enlargement:
(If you can see red on my face, it's fake blood, because I took this on World Zombie Day haha)

As you can see, the pupil hole is very big, and because the colour is strong, it doesn't blend very well with my eyes. It's not really a problem from a short distance (or when it's dark), though, and I'm very impressed by how well the colour shows up on my eyes, because red contacts usually just look sort of brown on me.

Design: ★★★★☆ - I love how well the colour shows up on my eyes!
Comfort: ★★★☆☆ - They're wearable, but I find they dry out my eyes quite quickly.
Enlargement: ★★★★★ - They are huge!

New bag!

My new bag arrived! I needed something to put my books in for uni, and wanted to get one of the typical school-style bags (backpack or satchel). I ended up choosing this one from Lost Mannequin:
It's kind of similar to that Glad News bag, but a fraction of the price.

I love the bag so much, and can't recommend this site enough. As far as I can tell, the bag is very well made, despite only costing $50. It's actually bigger than I'd expected, which is great, because that means it can fit all of my books and everything I need for class, and probably my laptop too (I haven't tested this yet)! For a bit  of size perspective, here's me wearing it:

 Lots of inside pockets

The site has loads of other cute bags available, so you should definitely check it out!

I've kind of been trying to coordinate my outfits around it haha. Here's what I wore today:

Vampire Machine

On Friday I was going to go to Digitalis, but we stayed in the pub too long and missed the last train haha. Here's what I wore:

--------------

Yesterday I went to Vampire Machine with Bethan. The club (which I'd never been to before) is usually just called Machine, but this time they encouraged people to dress as vampires, which pretty much sold it to me, because I can't say no to any event that involves costumes.

My outfit:
This is how I want to dress every day when I'm old.

Accessories:

Make up:
I finally wore my new circle lenses! They're Dolly Plus red by Vassen. I love how well the colour shows up on my eyes! I might do a review on them soon.

It turns out Bethan lives like 2 minutes away from me, so I predrank my body weight in absinthe at hers whilst dancing around her kitchen to Kyary and PSY (much to the amusement of her housemates), then we got the bus to central Birmingham.

Entry to the club was free, and they had some pretty good drinks deals, so I managed to not spend much (but still get absolutely wasted), which was nice. The event itself was a lot of fun! I saw lots of people I know, and they played Internet Friends and Gangnam Style (amongst the normal industrial/EBM stuff).

With Bethan, waiting to buy cheap Jagermeister.

I lost track of all time after that, but at some point we got a taxi back to the area we live in, and got food before going home. Now sober, I realise how disgusting my choice of fish and chips with cheese sounds, but it was a good idea at the time lol.

04/10/2012

Today I got some tights from New Look. They're the warm, cotton kind, and I love them. 8D I haven't had warm, patterned tights since I was a child haha.
They might be good for lolita (none of my lolita clothes go with them haha, but I'm sure someone's would).
Close up of pattern.

In other news, university has been good so far. C: In French cinema we're studying horror, so that's cool. On Monday we watched a really old horror film. It wasn't particularly scary (for me, anyway, but other people were freaking out a bit during the screening haha), but entertaining nonetheless. I didn't catch the name, but it was good, so I'll let you know if I find out.

Also, we have to start organising year abroad (next year) stuff now! I'm really excited about it, but it's kinda scary. If you're studying 3 languages, you have to do one term in two of the countries, and an intensive language course in the 3rd country during the summer holiday at the end of the year. I've decided to go to France first, then Japan, then do the summer course in Italy. Most of the Japanese partner universities are in Tokyo, so I'll probably end up there. 8D In France, we have the option to do a work placement, but I'm probably just gonna go to a university there haha. Paris would be great, but there are limited places, so I probably won't get to go there.

Lately, I've just stopped caring about what's appropriate for the situation and wearing mini horns to class haha:
No one here cares how you dress, though, so it's cool. Unless you're wearing a onesie/kigurumi of some kind. Students seem to love onesies.
